VANCOUVER, British Columbia (BRAIN) — Bicycle Retailer & Industry News editors are in Vancouver this week. The magazine’s first dealer tour outside of the U.S. kicks off Tuesday with visits to five shops in the downtown area.
Over the course of this week BRAIN reporters will visit 13 retailers along Vancouver’s core downtown area and the North Shore. Joined by sponsor representatives from Cannondale, Sugoi, Finish Line, Interbike and PeopleForBikes, editors will interview shop owners and staff to learn about the differences between Canadian and U.S. bike shops and what makes retail tick at our Northern neighbors.
Ride guides from HUB, Vancouver’s leading advocacy group, have charted the bike routes for all three days of visits.
Profiles of each shop will be featured an upcoming issue of the magazine, which will have a special focus on the Canadian market.
BRAIN will visit Denman Bike Shop, Mighty Riders, On the Rivet, The Bike Doctor and Bicycle Sports Pacific on Tuesday, racking up a whopping 12 miles riding from shop to shop. On Wednesday, the longest mileage day of the week, the Dealer Tour group will drop in on Steed Cycles, Obsession: Bikes, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and Cove Bike Shop, tallying nearly 20 miles for the day.
And on the final day, Thursday, editors will ride nearly 14 miles during visits to Speed Theory, Reckless Bikes, Pacific Multisport and Kissing Crows.
The Vancouver Dealer Tour ends with a reception hosted by Sugoi and PeopleForBikes Thursday evening at The Loft at Earl’s.
