CHICAGO, IL (BRAIN) — Abus Mobile Security has a new MAP policy effective immediately. The German lock brand with offices in Chicago first implemented a MAP policy in 2011. But the policy was recently revamped to reflect easier to understand pricing, clearer enforcement parameters and to offer greater support to bike shops carrying Abus, the company says.
The new policy sets full retail price on products the same as MAP.
"Effective as of the official publication date of the new policy, Abus will recognize only MAP pricing... and per this change will no longer use the terminology 'MSRP' or any discount structure pertaining to minimum advertised pricing," the company states.
Abus may send notices to non-compliant dealers and reserves the right to suspend dealers from carrying Abus products at any time. Dealers who wish to be reinstated will have their written request reviewed on a quarterly basis and reinstatement will not be considered within the same quarter as the violation.
“My colleagues and I spend a lot of time on the road, visiting dealers and reps and talking about MAP,” said Phil Marmet, sales manager at Abus. “We take their feedback very seriously and felt that, based on what we were hearing, the time was right to update our policy. With the updates to our MAP policy we are striving to ensure fair pricing in an increasingly competitive online environment.”
For a complete copy of the MAP policy, dealers should email MAP@abus.com.
