Bell’s Event XC helmet offers MIPS at $90

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (BRAIN) — Bell is introducing its latest MIPS-equipped helmet, the Event XC. At $90, it’s Bell’s most affordable MIPS helmet.

The company is able to offer MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protections System) at a mere $20 increase in price because of its investment in the Swedish company that developed that technology.

MIPS is the slip-plane technology inside the helmet that is designed to reduce rotational forces that can result from certain impacts.

“It was important to Bell that they offer the system in a helmet that’s more affordable to the average consumer,” said a spokesman for the brand. “After all, safety isn’t just important for the most hardcore of riders, it’s important for all riders.”

The Event XC features the TAG fit system, making it easy to dial in fit. Overbrow Ventilation helps channel in cool air and draw out heat, while the Variable Position Visor shields riders from sun glare.
