MONTEREY, Calif. (BRAIN) — From plus-sized tires to lightweight 'cross bikes, high-end kids' bikes and the latest in helmets and eyewear, the Sea Otter Classic offered something for everyone.
Organizers claimed the 25th edition of the event was the most successful to date with 65,000 to 70,000 people attending. Female race and ride entries were up 25 percent. Some 6,500 campers stayed overnight at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area, 450 manufacturers and vendors occupied spaces in the expo, and almost 350 journalists registered from four continents.

The aluminum-framed Sumo features alloy fork and disc wheels and 4-inch Kenda Juggernaut tires mated to a 350-watt center-motor. The brand worked closely with top pro riders including Caroline Mani on women's specific frame geometry. Clik here to view.New helmet brand Shred was at Sea Otter for the first time to show how it uses a proprietary hexagon material to disburse impact forces. The material is used on pads by sister brand Slytech and in its helmets. The tech comes from the ski world, where both Shred and Slytech got their start.
