ANN ARBOR, Mich. (BRAIN) — Retailer Two Wheel Tango has closed its three Ann Arbor-area stores. In a statement posted on its Facebook page Oct. 7, owner Dennis Pontius said that the dealer agreement with his primary vendor ended unexpectedly last week. Two Wheel Tango opened in 1998, and Pontius stocked bikes from Specialized, Waterford, All-City, Gunnar and Seven.
Pontius also said that the closure would be temporary.
BRAIN was unable to reach Pontius or anyone at the three stores, but in a story published byThe Ann Arbor News, Pontius said that he would like to reopen the shops but that it was too soon to say if it would happen.
“It certainly is potentially a goal. We are trying. At this point, unfortunately, because it was so sudden, we haven’t explored what our options even are. We’ve only started to do that,” Pontius told The Ann Arbor News. Pontius declined to discuss with The Ann Arbor News the details of the termination of the dealer agreement with his primary vendor.
According to the Two Wheel Tango Facebook page, Pontius and his staff are in the process of alerting customers of the closures and attempting to deliver repairs and existing orders.
“We are thankful for the support and concern that we've received from the community and our staff during this challenging time,” Pontius wrote on Facebook. “We are honored to have had the opportunity to serve our customers for the last 16 years and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.”
