IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) – Shimano will soon sell a wireless device that connects its electronic Di2 groups to a bike computer. The system will first be available to sync with a new Shimano PRO computer; the company said it will soon be compatible with other bike computers, with which it will communicate via the ANT+ wireless system.

The Di2 Wireless Unit (Shimano product SM-EWW01) will be compatible with Dura-Ace 9070, Ultegra 6870 Di2 and Ultegra 6770 E-tube road shifting systems. It will send the bike computer information about gear position, battery life, and "other common rider data functions," Shimano said.

The Di2 Wireless Unit is powered by the same Di2 battery that powers the Di2 shifting system.

The device will initially be compatible with the new PRO SCIO ANT+ cycling computer.

The Di2 Wireless Unit SM-EWW01 is 38mm long, 25mm wide, 12.5mm in height, and weighs less than 5 grams. It will be available in March for $79.99. The SCIO ANT+ cycling computer weighs 80 grams and will be available in white or black colors for $139 this month.
