U.K. scores medals on no-name bikes

The bikes used by Olympic medalists

LONDON, UK (BRAIN) Sunday August 12 2012 10:01 PM MT—There might be some names you don't recognize on the list of bikes used by Olympic medalists. Colombia, for example, won two Olympic medals aboard the country's GW bikes.

But the Games' most successful bikes were Great Britain's all-black models, made in-house by the country's well-funded cycling program.

Some of the bikes were labeled with "UK Sports Innovation," and, to comply with UCI rules that competitive bikes must be available commercially, the UK cycling federation recently began a very low-profile program to sell the bikes, as well as components and helmets developed for the team.

Here's a quick rundown of the brands that scored medals, followed by a list of real winners: the athletes who powered the bikes.
