BOULDER, Colo. (BRAIN) — The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition has selected Marilyn Price, director and founder of Trips for Kids, and Jennifer Pagels, human resources director at Trek Bicycles, as the recipients of its Pioneering Woman and First Ascent awards. The OIWC will recognize both women at an awards presentation on the first evening of the Interbike trade show.
Both women were nominated by their peers for inspiring leadership at companies where they work and in the industry.
“Recognizing women leaders in the bike industry is one way OIWC provides inspiration for our members who aspire to advance and build their careers in the industry. We are thrilled to recognize the incredible impact of Marilyn and Jennifer on the bike industry’s efforts around diversity and inclusion, ” said Deanne Buck, OIWC executive director.
The Pioneering Woman Award recognizes a female who has paved the way for women in the industry through commitment toward mentoring female colleagues. Price was nominated by Pamela Gallery, a Trips for Kids board member.
“Her achievements have placed her in the spotlight as a leader and role model for other women: community organizers, volunteers and supporters across the country, and she continues to develop and test new ideas. But it is her mentoring, encouragement and empowerment of female chapter leaders that has been a significant segment of her leadership of TFK International,” Gallery said.
The First Ascent Award recognizes a woman who demonstrates strong potential for leadership. Pagels was nominated by her employee, Heidi Hoffman, Trek HR generalist.
“Jennifer has developed several new employee-focused programs including People Planning Sessions and a Leadership Training Series, among others. She is supportive, encouraging, dedicated, understanding and a pleasure to work for,” said Hoffman.
The OIWC keynote and awards presentation, featuring Jessica Klodnicki, executive vice president and general manager for Bell Helmets and Blackburn Accessories, is set for Sept. 10, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30p.m., in Mandalay Bay Lagoon GH. The event is free and open to all show attendees.
