SINGAPORE (BRAIN) — Shimano's Singapore subsidiary plans to open an “experiential and interactive” bicycle center called Shimano Cycling World in Singapore.
The 7,000-square-foot center located in the Sports Museum in the Singapore Sports Hub will allow visitors to “view, walk through and interact with cycling exhibits,” according to a press release. The center was set to open Sept. 25.
Admission will be free. Visitors will be able to stroll through sections and learn about the latest developments in cycling technology, how cycling contributes to mobility, individual well-being and environmental preservation. They will also be able to view cycling routes in many countries virtually, upload trip journals and share images of their own.
According to the announcement received by BRAIN, the center will be the “first of its kind.”
Shimano set up its first factory in Singapore in 1973, followed by a sales office in 1996. Shimano Singapore is the regional headquarters for sales and marketing of Shimano products in Southeast Asia and employs about 550 staff.
