PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (BRAIN) — Advanced Sports International, parent of Fuji, Kestrel, SE, Breezer, and Oval Concepts, has hired Mark Vanek as product manager for the Oval brand.

Vanek’s industry experience spans 18 years with roles in the IBD channel and a stint at Performance Bikes. He then joined Marin Bikes, where he worked for 13 years, transitioning from inside sales rep to inside sales manager to key accounts manager before moving into marketing and product management.

“I have seen some great technology and product development from Oval Concepts, so I was very interested in the prospect of joining ASI. And after meeting the product team and company staff, it was very apparent that there is a lot of momentum building within the company,” Vanek said.

“My riding and product background covers both road and mountain, so I’m really going to enjoy developing components that address the performance needs of riders across multiple disciplines,” he added.

Oval Concepts was purchased by ASI in late 2009. Oval components are spec’d on Fuji’s high-end road and mountain offerings, as well as Kestrel’s high-end road and triathlon models. Its lineup includes TT/tri base bars and clip-on extensions; tubular, clincher, and CX wheelsets; and road and mountain bike bars, saddles, seatposts, stems and cranksets.

Vanek will work with Fuji and Kestrel product managers to determine OE needs, collaborate with vendors, negotiate pricing, help with aftermarket sales expansion, assist with brand development and marketing, and collect and implement product feedback from Oval Concepts-sponsored athletes.
