SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA (BRAIN) — Organizers of the Interbike and Outdoor Retailer trade shows are debuting a new media event that will showcase women’s-specific products to non-endemic journalists June 10-12, 2014.
Media will be able to test the latest women’s products at the event, which will take place at the Crystal Springs Resort in Northern New Jersey.
Organizers say The Women’s Story will feature 20-25 brands from the cycling and outdoor markets. Journalists will have an opportunity to test several women’s-specific products including mountain bikes, running shoes, yoga gear and apparel, climbing gear, stand up paddleboards (SUP) and other outdoor and cycling gear on the resort grounds.
The event will open to local outdoor and bicycle retailers after 2 p.m. on the final day.
“Our media events do much more than showcase a certain segment of the retail sports market,” said Darrell Denny, senior vice president of the sports group and business development for Emerald Expositions, parent of Interbike and Outdoor Retailer. “They allow the media to really get their feet wet and their hands dirty by testing the product in the environment in which they were designed for, and then have the opportunity to interview company designers and product developers in one unique setting. With the diverse product categories gathered at one event, journalists can generate multiple stories in a very efficient manner.”
Nonprofits including the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition, the Outdoor Industry Association and PeopleForBikes have endorsed the new event. Representatives from these organizations will speak there and offer data and key metrics on the women’s market.
